Marcelo Palma Sircili is currently a Scientific Researcher at the genetics laboratory of Butantan Institute, São Paulo, Brazil. His background involves a B.A. degree in biological sciences from the University of Campinas, an M.S. degree in microbiology and immunology from the Federal University of São Paulo, and a Ph.D. degree (biology of host; pathogen interactions) from the University of São Paulo, and part of his Ph.D. degree work was developed in the UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, USA. He has experience in microbiological and genetics fields, highlighting molecular characterization and bacterial quorum sensing, focusing mainly in diarrheagenic E.coli. Besides, his research focuses on chemical signaling, host pathogen interactions, and heterologous protein expression in bacteria.
