Claudia Codeço, a holder of a B.S. degree in biology (1992) and a Ph.D. degree in quantitative biology (1998), is an Associate Researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is the Head of the Transmissible Diseases area of the Epidemiology in Public Health Graduate Program at Fiocruz. Her research interests focuses on the population dynamics of infectious diseases and their vectors. She develops mathematical models for scenario analysis of control strategies and also collaborates with field researchers in the design and analysis of vector ecology studies. Her current research projects are on dengue fever, but she also collaborates with groups devoted to Chagas disease and visceral leishmaniasis. She is currently leading a multi-institutional project on dengue modeling in Brazil.
