Arthur Paul Schwab is the Director of the Natural Resources and Environmental Science (NRES) Program and a Professor of environmental soil chemistry at the Department of Agronomy. Dr. Schwab’s research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, US Environmental Protection Agency, and US Department of Defense. His area of research has been mainly the reclamation and remediation of contaminated soil and water with particular emphasis on the use of higher plants in remediation (phytoremediation). He has published approximately 95 peer-reviewed articles, 15 book chapters, coedited a book, and coauthored a book. Dr. Schwab has advised 13 Ph.D. degree students and 12 M.S. degree students. He has served on and chaired review panels for US EPA, NSF, and US Department of Agriculture. Schwab was an Associate Editor for Journal of Environmental Quality and the Soil Science Society of America Journal and served as a National Chair for the Soil Chemistry Division and the Environmental Quality Division of the Soil Science Society of America.
