Fereydoun Davatchi

F Davatchi was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1939. He received his Diplôme d’Etat de Dcoteur en Medicine (M.D. degree) in 1965, and his CES de Rhumatologie (Board of Rheumatology Subspecialty) in 1968 in Paris, France. He became Assistant Professor of medicine, Division of Rheumatology, Tehran University of Medical sciences in 1969. He became the Head Department of Rheumatology, Shariati Hospital, in 1974, Associate Professor in 1976, and Full Professor of internal medicine, Division of Rheumatology, in 1984. He became the Head of Rheumatology Research Center in 1994. He became Professor Emeritus and Honorary Head of Rheumatology Research Center in 2010. He was the Research Deputy of Dariush Kabir Medical school, Tehran University from 1973 to 1977 and Assicate editor of Acta Medica Iranica from 1973 to 1979. He serves as a President of the Iranian Rheumatology Association since 1972, Chairman of APLAR Special Interest Group for Behcet`s Disease from 1992, Associate Editor of International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases since 2004, Member of International Advisory Board of the journal “Lupus” from 2005, Editorial Board Member of Clinical Rheumatology from 2010, Associate Editor of BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders from 2010, and Senior Editor of the International Journal of rheumatic Diseases since 2010. He contributed to 19 books on Rheumatology subjects (3 International books in English and 16 local books in Farsi). He authored 181 papers in local and international journals, and local and International Proceeding Books.
