Luigina Bonelli

Luigina Bonelli received a degree in medicine in 1980 and specialty in oncology in 1983 at the University of Genoa, Italy. From 1981 to 2002, he serves as an Assistant and then as a Deputy Head in the Unit of Clinical Epidemiology and Trial of the National Institute for Cancer Research of Genoa. Since 2003, he serves as a Head of the Unit of Secondary Prevention and Screening and since 2005, as a Member of the Interregional Group for Oncology Screening programs at the Ministry of Health and Coordinator of the working groups for screening of breast cervical and colorectal tumours of the Liguria Region. His research areas include etiologic factors involved in the development of colorectal and pancreatic tumours, role of family history of cancer and inheritance in the development of colorectal adenomas and carcinoma, melanoma and pancreatic cancer, biological and molecular aspects in the colorectal carcinogenesis, chemoprevention of metachronous lesions in patients who underwent polypectomy from the large bowel and in patients with surgical removal of HNSCC of the head and neck, evaluation of new diagnostic advices, plan, organisation, and evaluation of population based cancer screening programmes, evaluation of new cancer screening models, participation in the production of diagnostic protocols for the management of subjects at high risk of cancer (FAP, HNPCC, BRCA1-2 carriers)
