Apostolos Papalois

Apostolos E. Papalois graduated from the Department of Biology, University of Athens, Athens, Greece, in 1991. He received his Ph.D. degree in biology and biochemistry from the University of Athens in close collaboration with the University of Cambridge, Department of Surgery. He had training abroad from 1991 at the University of Minnesota, University of Cambridge, University of Boston, University of C. Los Angeles, and University of Texas and also special training courses (Transplantation, LAS Courses, Leadership–Harvard). In 1996, he served as a Director of the Experimental–Research Center ELPEN Pharmaceuticals. He had some teaching duties such as at the University of Athens, Greece (pre- and postgraduate level) and at other Hellenic Universities (Patras and Alexandroupolis). He worked as a Visiting Professor at the University of Ioannina, Greece, Timisoara, Romania and San Antonio, Texas. He has more than 150 publications in international journals as well as his participation in international and panhellenic scientific congresses. Also many training courses (more than 500 national and international) were organized at his laboratory. His work was awarded with more than 100 prizes in national and international congresses as well as from scientific associations. Also under his supervision, many Ph.D. and M.S. degrees theses were elaborated in accordance with the European legislation for experimentation. He is a Member of national and international scientific societies such as Academy of Surgical Research, ICLAS, FELASA, Experimental Biology and Medicine, European Society for Transplantation, Cell Transplant Society, Academy of Management and others. His areas of expertise are animal models and preclinical activities.
