Laura Airoldi serves as a Tenured Professor in ecology and marine ecology at the University of Bologna, Italy. Prior to joining the University of Bologna, he received a graduate degree from the University of Milano and a Ph.D. degree in marine science from the University of Genova and worked as postdoctorate at the University of Pisa and the University of Sydney. He also spent research sabbaticals at the Marine Biological Association of the UK, The University of Adelaide, The University of California Santa Cruz, and Wesleyan University. Airoldi's research focuses primarily on community structure and population dynamics, with a strong emphasis on field experimentation. Airoldi has published papers on issues related to factors maintaining the structure and diversity of coastal assemblages, on the consequences of various anthropogenic impacts, emphasizing coastal urbanization, sea defense, enhanced loads of sediments, and habitat loss, and on the recovery and restoration of damaged ecosystems, finalized to the management and conservation of marine biodiversity.
