Hideki Kawai received the Doctor license of Japan (M.D.) degree in 1990, studied in the Department of Thoracic Surgery, School of Medicine, Akita University ,Akita, Japan from 1990 to 1997 and was awarded the Ph.D. degree in oncology for a thesis entitled “Direct measurement of doxorubicin concentration in the intact, living single cancer cell during hyperthermia.” Kawai served as a Research Associate at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, School of Medicine, Akita University from 1997 to 1999 and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Experimental Medicine, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School Boston, Mass, USA from 1999 to 2001. Hideki Kawai currently works as a Director at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Akita Red Cross Hospital. Kawai is a Member in the Japanese Association for Cancer Research, a Board Certified Oncologist in the Japanese Association for Clinical Cancer Research, a Board Certified Senior Surgeon in Thoracic Surgery, and many others. Kawai received the best presentation award at the 59th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Association for Thoracic Surgery in 2006.
