Guido Frosina

Born at La Spezia, Italy on June 22, 1958 and married with one son and one daughter. He obtained his Laurea in Biological Sciences cum laude at University and Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, Italy in 1981 and a PhD in Genetics at University of Ferrara, Italy in 1987. He was postdoctoral fellow at Institut Gustave Roussy, Villejuif, France with Drs. Francoise and Jacques Laval (1985-86) and visiting scientist at Imperial Cancer Research Fund, Clare Hall Laboratories, South Mimms, UK in the lab of Dr. Richard D. Wood (1988-89). He obtained a permanent position as senior scientist in the Mutagenesis laboratory of St. Martino Hospital - National Cancer Institute of Genova, Italy directed by Prof. Angelo Abbondandolo in 1987 and still works there. His research areas include DNA repair and Mutagenesis with focus on DNA Repair of endogenous damage and mechanisms of brain tumor resistance. He has been and currently is PI of national and international research projects sponsored by several funding Agencies including the European Union, the Italian Association for Cancer Research, Telethon and the Bank Foundation Compagnia S. Paolo.
