Pablo Gil received a B.S. degree in computer science engineering and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Alicante, Alicante, Spain, in 1999 and 2008, respectively. He is currently full-time Associate Professor at the Department of Physics, Systems Engineering and Signal Theory at the University of Alicante, and he teaches courses in control engineering and computer vision for robots. His research interests include computer vision for robotic systems, intelligent manipulation, virtual laboratories, and technologies for teaching. Dr. Gil is a Member of CEA-IFAC and a Senior Member of both IEEE Education Society and Robotics and Automation Society, and he has published some international papers on those topics and participated as Reviewer of international journals and conferences. In December 2011, he was awarded the Teaching Excellence Prize as one of the four winners of top teacher of the year at the University of Alicante in 2011. The primary purpose of this award is to acknowledge and encourage excellence in teaching.
