Anuj K. Chandel

Anuj K. Chandel was graduated in 2010 from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, India. After he obtained his M.S. degree in biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India, in 2000, he joined Dalas Biotech Ltd., Bhiwadi, India, for the penicillin acylase and beta lactam antibiotic production at a large scale for three years. Subsequently, he joined the University of Delhi, Delhi, India, under a nationwide research project funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India on the development of biofuel production process from lignocellulosic feedstock. He worked in the project for 3 years. Later, he joined Celestial Labs Ltd., Hyderabad, India, as a Project Consultant in establishing the enzymes production facility and pursued his doctoral studies on ethanol production from one of the most famous weedy material, Saccharum spontaneum (wild sugarcane) using thermotolerant yeasts. After this, he did postdoctoral studies at University of Stellenbosch, Stellenbosch, South Africa working on development of fermentative process for vaccine production from recombinant yeasts. Currently, he is working with Professor S. S. Silva at the Department of Biotechnology, School of Engineering of Lorena, University of Sao Paulo, as a Postdoctoral Researcher for the development of large-scale fuel ethanol production process from Sugarcane bagasse in a mission mode project funded by FAPESP. He is an author of 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 14 book chapters. He is coediting two books on xylitol production and sustainable degradation of biomass with Professor S. S. Silva.
