Christopher Roy received his Doctoral degree in aerospace engineering from the North Carolina State University in 1998. From 1998 to 2003 he worked as a Senior Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM, USA. From 2003 to 2007 he taught at the Aerospace Engineering Department at the Auburn University as an Assistant Professor. In 2007, Dr. Roy joined the Aerospace and Ocean Engineering Department at Virginia Tech as an Associate Professor. In July of 2006, Dr. Roy was awarded the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers for his work on verification and validation (V&V) in computational science and engineering. Dr. Roy has authored or coauthored over 70 journal articles and conference papers in the areas of computational fluid dynamics, numerical error estimation, and V&V. He is the coauthor of the book Verification and Validation in Scientific Computing published by Cambridge University Press (2010). Roy's areas of expertise include numerical error estimation and mesh adaptation for finite difference and finite volume methods.
