Juan C. Pereira

Juan C. Pereira is a Professor at the Department of Chemistry of the Faculty of Experimental Sciences and Technology in the University of Carabobo, Valencia, Venezuela. He is the current Member of Petroleum, Hydrocarbons, and Derivatives Laboratory. He received a B.S. degree in chemistry and an M.S. degree in chemical science from the University Central of Venezuela, Caracas, Venezuela, and he received a Ph.D. degree from the University of Los Andes, Merida, Venezuela. He was the winner of the Award Best Poster in the 5th World Congress on Emulsion, Lyon, France, 2010, in the area of emulsions and social issues. He has been working in interfacial phenomena in petroleum for the past 15 years. He has authored more than 20 research papers in refereed journals. Professor Pereira has supervised over 50 theses of B.S. degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering. He has taught courses for undergraduates: general chemistry and laboratory of general chemistry. He has taught courses for graduates (M.S. and Ph.D.): interfacial phenomena, formulation of systems surfactants-oil-water (SOW), and surface and colloidal chemistry. He has managed over 9 research projects. He was Chair of the First Congress of Petroleum Chemistry, May 2010, Valencia, Venezuela.
