William R. Roy

William R. Roy is a Senior Geochemist at the Illinois State Geological Survey of the University of Illinois. He has received the B.S. and M.A. degrees in geology from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, Ind, USA, and the Ph.D. degree in spil physical chemistry from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Ill, USA. His dissertation was on the competitve adsorption of oxyanions by soils. His principal area of expertise is the application of geology, physical chemistry, and hydrogeology to the study of the environmental fate and movement of solutes such as radionuclides, heavy metals, pesticides, and geologic sequestration of carbon dioxide. Roy has served as an Associate Editor and Coeditor of the Journal of Environmental Quality. He has also served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Hazardous Wastes and the Soil Science Society of America Journal. Soils.
