Nikolaos G. Kallithrakas-Kontos

Nikolaos G. Kallithrakas-Kontos works as a Professor of analytical chemistry in the Technical University of Crete (Chania, Greece). He was born in 1957. He studied chemistry in the National University of Athens and he elaborated his Ph.D. thesis in the Institute of the Nuclear Physics of the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” (tandem accelerator) in collaboration with the Chemistry Department of the National University of Athens, Greece. He served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Laboratory of the Environmental Radiation Protection of the NCSR “Demokritos.” He joined the Department of Sciences, the Technical University of Crete (Chania), in 1992. He is the Head of the Analytical and Environmental Chemistry Laboratory of the same University. His main research interests focus on the areas of X-ray analysis (XRF, PIXE), total reflection X-ray fluorescence (TXRF), speciation, surface analysis, archeometry, environmental analysis, and so forth.
