Vilma Gladys Duschak, received the Ph.D. degree in biochemistry in 1989 from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina. Member of Research Career, National Research Council (CONICET), Argentina, IIB-INTECH, UNSAM, San Martin, Argentina (since 1994). He has been a Visitant Researcher at the Cell Biology and Genetic Department, Faculty of Medicina, Universidad de Chile (1989); Department of Parasitology, Instituto de Cs Biomédicas, Universidad de San Pablo (USP), Brasil (2005); Laboratoire des Glucides, Universite Jules Verne, Amiens, France (2007) ; Bernhard Notch Institute of Tropical Medicine, Hamburg, Germany (2010-2011). His main areas of expertise include parasitology, glycobiology of parasites, biochemistry of proteins, proteomics, chagas disease, Trypanosoma cruzi targets, parasite proteases, and sulfation in parasites. He is a Member of the Argentinean Society of Protozool and Parasitic Diseases and of the Argentinean Society of Biochem and Mol. Biol., and he is also a Member of the editorial advisory board. He holds a recent patent on Anti-Infective Drug Discovery. He is a reviewer of research articles in international parasitological, biochemical, and microbiological journals and the reviewer of research proposals from CONICET and UBA, Argentina, and OTKA, Hungary. He has received a number of awards including a research award from Laboratorio Casasco, Hospital de Clínicas (2005); Premio SAIQO from the 1st Simposio Iberoamericano de Quím Org. (2007); Global Health Award from Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation in immunology, pathogenesis, and vaccine perspectives, Alpbach, Austria (2008), and an award for Drug Discovery for Protozoan Parasites, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA (2012).
