Sheng Chen

Sheng Chen received his Medical degree from Xiangya Medical School of Central South University, Changsha, China, and his Ph.D. degree in neuroscience from Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA, USA. He completed his residency training in pathology under the directorship of Dr. Leonard B. Kahn at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, NY, USA, in 2002. Before joining North Shore-LIJ Health System as a Staff Pathologist and Dermatopathologist in 2003, he did a year of dermatopathology fellowship under the directorship of the late Dr. A. Bernard Ackerman in New York City. Currently, he practices both dermatopathology and general surgical pathology and serves as Chief of Dermatopathology at the Department of Pathology, North Shore-LIJ Health System, NY. He has been Board Certified in pathology since 2002 and dermatopathology since 2003. He has been appointed as Assistant Professor by Albert Einstein College of Medicine since 2003 and Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine since 2009. He is a Member of the American Society of Dermatopathology (ASDP), the College of American Pathologists (CAP), and the Editorial Board of the journal Dermatopathology: Practical and Conceptual. His main interests in pathology are in tumor pathology, tumorigenesis theories, melanocytic nevi, and melanoma.
