Osama Elzaafarany, M.S. degree holder, is a Clinical Oncologist, serving as an Assistant Lecturer of Oncology at Alexandria University since April 2012. He is involved mainly in treating cancer patients at the Medical Research Institute Hospital, which is the second largest tertiary referral center in the Lower Egypt serving four governorates in the Delta area and the North West of Egypt. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, in September 2005, with a general grade of "Excellent with Honors." He completed the "Clinical Oncology Residency" training program at Alexandria University. He has a special interest in breast cancer management as well as related clinical research activities, especially hormonal and immune-therapy projects. He has excellent experience in treating solid tumors and lymphoma. He provides medical care for about 1500 cancer patients per year, ranging between screening, early diagnosis, treatment decision making, and administration of both chemotherapy and radiotherapy to patients attending our oncology outpatient clinic. This is beside his experience in conducting medical research, as he had the opportunity to carry a clinical research project as a part of his M.S. degree thesis in the field of breast cancer at Alexandria University. This work was investigating the "chemotherapy-induced amenorrhea" and it yielded a successful publication. Also, he had the chance to share in a translational research work in the area of immune-therapy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Alabama, USA. Currently, he is working to earn Ph.D. degree in clinical oncology from Alexandria University in his way to build up a successful academic career in clinical oncology.
