Jayesh Sheth graduated in microbiology from the Gujarat University, India, and joined a doctoral program (Ph.D. degree) in biochemistry at the University of Mumbai, India. He obtained a Diploma degree in reproductive biology and reproductive medicine from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and became a Fellow of the Indian College of Mother and Child Health and a Fellow of UICC. He acts as the Director of the FRIGE Institute of Human Genetics heading the Department of Biochemical and Molecular Genetics and as a consultant laboratory endocrinologist. He also serves as a Visiting Professor of molecular biology at the Jiwaji University, Gwalior, and as an Adviser at the Board of Studies in Nirma University, Saurashtra University, Maharaja Sayajirao University, and Charusat University. He has 90 scientific publications in national and international journals with an interest in thyroid disorders, endocrine infertility, lysosomal storage disorders, thalassemia, and diabetes. His current areas of research are understanding the burden of lysosomal storage disorders in India and their mutation spectrum in Gaucher and Tay-Sachs disease, study of PPARG polymorphism in type 2 diabetes, and neurogenetic disorders.
