Jiye (James) Fang is currently an Associate Professor of chemistry and Director of Materials Science Program/Track, State University of New York at Binghamton, New York. After he graduated from Lanzhou University, he received his M.S. degree in chemistry and his Ph.D. degree in materials science from National University of Singapore in 1994 and 1998, respectively. Since 1999, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow and subsequently a Research Specialist in Advanced Materials Research Institute. He then joined the Chemistry Department of the University of New Orleans as an Assistant Professor in 2002. He won an NSF Career award in 2005. His research direction is shape-control synthesis of functional nanomaterials.
