Renato A. Krohling

Renato A. Krohling received the B.S. degree and the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Espirito Santo (UFES), Vitoria, Brazil, in 1990, and 1994, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree (Dr.Ing.) in electrical engineering with summa cum laude from the University of Saarland, Saarbr├╝cken, Germany, in 1999. In 2000-2001 he was Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Electrical Engineering Department, UFES, Vitoria, Brazil. In 2002 he was a Research Associate at the Bio-Inspired Computation Laboratory, Department of Electronics, the University of York, York, UK. Throughout the years from 2003 to 2006 he was Research Associate at the Chair for Control Systems Engineering, University of Dortmund, Dortmund, Germany. Since 2007 he has been serving with the Department of Informatics, UFES, Vitoria, Brazil. He is coauthor with M. Jamshidi, L. dos S. Coelho, and P. Fleming of the book Robust Control Systems with Genetic Algorithms CRC Press, Boca Raton, USA, 2002. Dr. Krohling works as a Reviewer for the IEEE Transaction on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Part B, as well as for the IEEE Transaction on Evolutionary Computation. Since 2002 he has been appointed as a referee for several international conferences on evolutionary computation. His research interests are in bio-inspired computation, especially swarm intelligence, evolutionary algorithms, neural networks, and fuzzy logic, applications to optimization, decision making, and time series prediction.
