Guler Ekmekci received her B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the Inönü University, Turkey in 1982 and her M.S. (1988) and Ph.D. degrees (1997) in chemistry from the Gazi University. She worked as an Assistant Professor (2002–2006) and then as an Associate Professor (2006–2011) in the Chemistry Education Department, Gazi University, Turkey. She has been working in the same university since 2011 as a Full Professor. Her research fields are in the field of electroanalytical chemistry, particularly trace element determination and developing new ion selective electrodes (solid state, membrane, mostly for selenite, and enzyme). She worked in the Electrochemistry Department, Heyrovsky Institute (Prague) (2002–2003) as a Visiting Professor for 6 months and in the Michigan State University (USA) as a Visiting Professor for 4 months.
