Dr. Makhlouf is an Associate Professor at the Department of Surface Technology and Corrosion, Central Metallurgical R&D Institute, Egypt. He gained extensive research experience in materials science & engineering and electrochemistry. He has several ongoing research projects with many international institutions in USA and Europe covering advanced materials and materials corrosion/coatings & their properties and performance. Makhlouf was awarded several national and international prizes and certificates of recognition for his contribution to coatings technology. In 2006, he was awarded the National Prize in Advanced Science and Technology and the Prize of Excellence in Surface Technology and Corrosion. He was also awarded several prestigious fellowships in USA and Germany such as Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship for Experienced Researchers at Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Fulbright-, NSF-, and DOE- Fellowships. In 2010, he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Australian Institute of High Energetic Materials and selected as a member of the Scientific Monitoring and Advisory Committee. Makhlouf was involved in many external professional activities including reviewing papers for 23 scientific journals, editing books and conference proceedings and reviewing projects for Fulbright commission. He is also invited as an Evaluator Expert in the EU FP6 and FP7. Makhlouf chaired a number of technical sessions in international conferences. He was the Chairman and Organizer of the symposium Corrosion and Coatings Challenges in Industry, American Chemical Society, Boise, 2007. He is an active member of several international professional societies and member of Editorial Advisory Board of seven international journals. Makhlouf authored and coauthored 93 papers and seven book chapters and edited three books published in UK and USA.
