Susan Costantini received a degree in chemistry from the University of Naples Federico II, Naples, Italy, in June 2000. In October 2004, she received a Ph.D. degree in computational biology from the Second University of Naples, Naples, Italy. Since November 2004, Costantini works as a Professor of applied informatics in degree courses at the Medicine and Surgery Faculty, Second University of Naples (SUN), Naples, Italy. From 2006 to 2011, she worked as a Professor at the Bioinformatics Laboratory in the Biotechnology Faculty, University of Naples Federico II. Since March 2008, she has been a Senior Fellow and Group Leader at the National Cancer Institute of Naples. In her research activity, Costantini applied and developed new computational methods in order to study the three-dimensional structure of proteins and the structure-function relation. She developed a method for the prediction of secondary structure of proteins, for the prediction of structural class of proteins, and for the evaluation of the globularity of protein three-dimensional models. Finally, she has also developed databases on cytokines and a database to collect clinical and cytokinetic data. Costantini has published 74 scientific articles and 18 other publications.
