Hassan Zaraket obtained his Ph.D. degree from Niigata University, Niigata, Japan, and did his postdoc training at the WHO Collaborating Center and Center of Excellence for Influenza Research and Surveillance at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn, USA. Zaraket is a Bacteriologist and Virologist who has contributed a significant number of publications to his field. He is currently an Assistant Professor of virology at the American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon. His main area of interest is studying evolution, antiviral drug susceptibility, and molecular factors that regulate pathogenicity and transmissibility of influenza viruses. His research interests also include studying the evolution and epidemiology of other respiratory agents such as the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and Staphylococcus aureus.
