Chishimba N. Mowa

Chishimba N. Mowa was born in Kawambwa, Zambia, in 1964. He received the B.V.M. degree (Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine) from the University of Zambia, Lusaka, Zambia, in 1989 and later the M.V.M. (Master of Veterinary Medicine) and the Ph.D. degrees from Glasgow University, Glasgow, Scotland, and Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan, in 1994 and 2001, respectively. He then did his Postdoctoral Fellow in neurobiology at Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy (NEOUCOMP), Rootstown, OH, USA, from 2001 to 2005 before joining Appalachian State University, Boone, NC, USA, as an Assistant Professor in July 2005. Presently, he is an associate professor. His main research interests in reproductive biology involve understanding the role of estrogen and VEGF in female and male reproductive events, notably penile development, and cervical remodeling and more recently in modulating infection-induced premature birth using natural products. He is a Member of the Histochemical Society Publications Committee and a recipient of various awards, scholarships, and grants.
