Angelo A. Manfredi

Angelo A. Manfredi graduated in medicine at the University of Milan, Milan, Italy, where he specialized in clinical immunology. He completed his training at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minn, USA, where he became originally interested in the molecular regulation of autoimmune phenomena. Later on he returned to Milano, where he joined the Department of Medicine of the San Raffaele Institute. Manfredi has worked since then as the Head of the Laboratory of Autoimmunity and Vascular Inflammation and as an Associate Professor of medicine at the University Vita Salute San Raffaele. His work has mainly focused on the innate response to signals of tissue injury in rheumatological diseases and on the mechanisms leading to persistent vascular inflammation and atherothrombosis.
