Colin W. Howden

C. W. Howden was graduated from the Medical School at the University of Glasgow in Scotland in 1978. After postgraduate training in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and clinical pharmacology in Glasgow and Canada, he moved to the USA in 1991. In addition, he works currently as the Professor of medicine at the Division of Gastroenterology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, a position he has held since 1999. He has extensive interests in upper GI tract disorders including ulcer disease and its management. Howden was coauthor of the original practice guidelines of the American College of Gastroenterology on H. pylori infection and senior author of the Cochrane Collaboration systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials of proton pump inhibitors in the management of ulcer bleeding.
