Magnus Bordewich is a Senior Lecturer in computer science at Durham University, Durham, UK. He has previously held posts as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Computing, Leeds University, and at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. His Doctorate (the D.Phil. degree) and his undergraduate degree (the M.Math. degree) were both conducted at the Department of Mathematics, Oxford University, Oxford, UK. His research work is in the fields of algorithms and complexity and discrete mathematics, with a focus on applications in bioinformatics, in particular phylogenetics.
