Maryna Van de Venter holds the B.S. (biochemistry, zoology), M.S., and Ph.D. (biochemistry) degrees from the University of Port Elizabeth, Port Elizabeth, South Africa. She is currently appointed as an Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, Port Elizabeth, South Africa. She has twenty‐three years of experience in teaching and research experience, fourteen of which were in the field of medicinal properties of plant extracts and natural compounds. Her investigations focus mainly on in vitro effects of these extracts or compounds on signal transduction pathways and biochemical processes involved in cell death, diabetes, neurodegeneration, and ageing.
