Peter R. Chang serves as a Research Scientist at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Government of Canada, Saskatoon, SK, Canada., and as a Professor at the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, SK, Canada. His research strategically focuses on “developing new opportunities for agriculture from bioresources.” He works on the isolation, fractionation, concentration, purification, conversion, transformation, modification, characterization, and processing of biopolymers from biomass and grain into biocomposites, nanocomposites, bioplastics, biomaterials, ecomaterials, biofuels, fine chemicals, functional foods, natural health products, bioactives, and other industrial products. He is a vigorous proponent for, and a developer of, technologies for biorefinery/integrated value added processing and of technologies to improve the competitiveness of bioenergy creation/implementation. He continues to seek out, identify, and generate innovative ideas in the areas of new process technologies/products from agriculture and bioresources and their uses. He is a prominent and highly regarded scientist recognized nationally and internationally and is a frequent reviewer for many professional journals and funding agencies.
