Maurizio Volterrani obtained his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from FESC. He was the Chief of Cardiology Unit, IRCCS San Raffaele, Pisana, Rome, Italy, from January 2004 to 2011, Director of the Cardiologic Unit, IRCCS San Raffaele, in January 2012, Member of two commissions of the Italian Ministry of Health (thermal rehabilitation and appropriateness of in-hospital rehabilitation treatment) from October 2009 to May 2011, Member of Commissions of the Italian Ministry of Health (publicity) in May 2011, Nomination European SAG-Expert for EMA (Scientific Advisor Group- European Medicine Agency) in January 2013, and CEO Solaris Consortium for Telemedicine Research and Services from 2010 to 2012. Volterrani was a Director of SICOA (Italian Accredited Private Hospitalization Group) Study Centre in January 2009. He was the Governor of Italy by the ISCP (International Society of Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy), Member of the SICOA (Italian Accredited Private Hospitalization Group), and member of the data monitoring committee of an international clinical trial. From 2009 to March 2013, he was a Member of the Board of Directors of GICR-IACPR (Italian Association for Cardiovascular Prevention, Rehabilitation, and Epidemiology). In 2013 he was nominated as a European Expert of the EMA (European Medicine Agency). In 2013 he was nominated as a Member of the Ethic Committee of IRCCS San Raffaele. In 2014 he was nominated as a member of the Technoscientific Committee of IRCCS San Raffaele. Volterrani was a principal investigator in several international clinical trials. He was a referee to European and American cardiologic journals. Volterrani was an author of over 160 publications in scientific international and national journals and coauthor of the volume Farmaci ed Infermiere (Drugs and Nurse), that was reedited for the fourth time in June 2013. In 2014 he was the author of the book La telecardiologia come strumento di integrazione ospedale-territorio (Telecardiology as an Instrument of the Integration between Hospital and Territory) edited by Edizioni Accademiche Italiane.
