Xiao-Qiang Yu got his B.S. degree in chemistry from Sun Yat-Sen (Zhongshan) University, Guangzhou, China, in 1984. He also got his M.S. degree in organic chemistry from the same university in 1987. He received his Ph.D. degree in biochemistry from Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS, USA, in 1997. Yu is currently an Associate Professor in the Division of Cell Biology and Biophysics, UMKC, Kansas City, MO, USA. His research interests include innate immunity, C-type lectins, pattern recognition receptors, innate immune signaling pathways, expression and regulation of immune genes, and structural and functional study of genes and proteins.
