Tatehiro Kagawa

Tatehiro Kagawa was born in Yamato-Koriyama, Japan, in 1961. He graduated from Keio University School of Medicine and passed the National Medical Board in 1986. He received the Ph.D. degree from Keio University, Japan, in 1992. Kagawa was an Assistant Professor at Tokai University School of Medicine since 1994. He studied on bile acid transporters with Professor Irwin M. Arias at Tufts University from 1999 to 2001. Presently, he is an Associate Professor at Tokai University School of Medicine. He has been working as a hepatologist, and he is mainly interested in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic liver disease and in the mechanism(s) of bile secretion. Kagawa is a recipient of the Young Investigator Award from the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology in 1993 and Hepatology Research Award from the Japan Society of Hepatology in 2009.
