Xiao-Xin Yan has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Carbondale as an Assistant Professor of anatomy. Previously, he was a Senior Research Scientist for Dupont Pharma, then Bristol-Myers Squibb in New Haven, Conn. (2001 – 2004). He was also a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California at Irvine (1997 – 2000) and at Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah (1995 – 1996). Yan was a Lecturer at Hunan Medical University in Changsha, China (1984 – 1994). Yan earned both his B.M. degree and his M.S. degree at Hunan Medical University in China (1984). He completed his internship at Zhuzhou People’s Hospital and Xiangya Hospital in Hunan, China (1983 – 1984). He is a Member of the American Epilepsy Society, International Brain Research Organization, and the Society for Neuroscience. His research interest is developmental neurobiology. He has received research grant support from the National Natural Sciences Foundation of China and the National Educational Committee of China. He has published more than 40 journal articles.
