Bauke de Vries

Bauke de Vries obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1996 from the Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, NB, The Netherlands. The subject of his Ph.D. thesis was “Communication in the building industry: a strategy for implementing electronic information exchange.” From 1985 to 1987, Vries served as a software engineer. In 1987, he became an I.T. Manager in the Department of Building and Architecture, Eindhoven University of Technology. From 1987 to 2001, he was an Associate Professor in the Design Systems Group at the same university, and since 2001, he has worked as a Professor and the Chair of that group. His main research topics are the following: computer-aided architectural design (CAAD), building information modeling, VR technology, and interfaces and knowledge-based systems. Vries is an author of publications that have been presented in international conferences and scientific articles that have been published in international journals. He was a member of many Ph.D. degree committees and a project leader in the European research projects.
