Yanglong Hou serves as a Professor of materials science and Associate Chair at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of Peking University, Beijing, China, and the Vice Director of Advanced Material Engineering Center at the Advanced Technology Institute of the same university. He received his Ph.D. degree in materials science from Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China, in 2000. Hou served as a COE Special Researcher at the Monbusho Scholarship in Japan and JSPS and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Brown University, Providence, RI, USA. He has received numerous academic awards, among them the JSPS Fellowship Award in 2002, the outstanding Rising Star Award of science and technology in 2008, the New Century Talent Award from the Ministry of Education of China, Beijing Excellent Talent, the Outstanding Young Scholar from the Yok Ying Tung Foundation, and the Outstanding Young Scholarship from the National Natural Foundation of Science. Hou's research interests are focused on the chemical synthesis of multifunctional nanoscale materials and its applications in biomedicine and energy, and he has published more than 50 papers and has reported over 30 times in conferences in and abroad. Currently, he is participating in or in charge of projects at the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Program on Key Basic Research Project of China (973 Program).
