Dr Fabien Hyafil graduated in 1999 from the Medical School Paris-Ouest, University Paris Cité Sorbonne, France. He completed his clinical training in Cardiology in 2004 at Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris and started his research on atherosclerosis imaging in 2003 in Paris. Dr Hyafil then worked during two years as a research fellow at the Imaging Sciences Laboratories of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine with Pr Zahi Fayad and Pr Valentin Fuster. His research work focuses on molecular imaging of atherosclerotic plaques with MRI, CT and nuclear medicine and he published more than 30 articles in several journals, including Nature Medicine, Radiology, PNAS and ATVB. He obtained his PhD “summa cum laude” in 2010. After a fellowship in Cardiology and Nuclear Medicine, Dr Hyafil works currently as an Assistant Professor and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Cardiology and Nuclear Medicine at Bichat University Hospital, Paris, France. His research interest is cardiovascular imaging with CT, MRI and nuclear medicine. He is currently leading several clinical studies evaluating the interest of FDG-PET in cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis.
