Benedetta Nacmias

Benedetta Nacmias is a molecular biologist. She graduated at the University of Florence, Italy, in 1984, and did a fellowship at the Weizmann Institute of Science (Rehovot, Israel, Professor Esra Galun) from 1986 to 1988 and a fellowship at the Molecular Genetics Laboratory Boston, Massachussetts General Hospital (Professor St. G. Hyslop) for molecular biology of Alzheimer’s disease (1989). She is board certified in medical genetics in 1998 and received her Ph.D. degree in neuroscience in 2004. She was a Researcher in neurology, University of Florence. Her biography has been published in XVII edition of Who’s Who in the World, in 2000. She has published more than 99 papers (92 on international reviews). She is currently a Researcher in neurology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Florence, Italy. Her current research activities are neurogenetic investigations on Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, molecular analysis of spinocerebellar ataxias, studies on genetic factors predisposing to longevity, and genetic susceptibility to eating disorders at the Laboratory of Neurogenetics of the Department of Neurological and Psychiatrical Sciences, University of Florence.
