Maria Luisa Testa

Maria Luisa Testa was born in Palermo, Italy, in 1974. She received a degree in pharmaceutical chemistry and technology from the Palermo University, Palermo, Italy, in 1997, and an academic qualification of suficiencia investigadora from the Valencia University, Valencia, Spain, in 2000. She also received a European Ph.D. degree in organic and pharmaceutical chemistry from the Valencia University, Valencia, Spain, in 2003. Testa is currently working as a Permanent Research Chemist at the Institute for the Study of Nanostructured Materials of the CNR, Palermo, Italy. She had various research experiences at international laboratories such as the Organic Chemistry Department and Inorganic Chemistry Department of the Valencia University, Spain, as well as the Chemistry Department, University of Cork, Cork, Ireland. She was a Contract Professor at the Palermo University, Italy. She was a thesis supervisor of students in pharmacy, and now she is a Tutor of students in chemistry at the Palermo University, Italy. At present, her research activity deals mainly with nanomaterials for energy and environment, in particular for heterogeneous catalysis. She is currently working on design and synthesis of amorphous and mesoporous materials and hybrid sol‐gel doped catalysts, evaluation of the catalytic activity in organic reactions used in biofuel production, synthesis of Pd and PdAu mesoporous catalysts active on HDS reaction and on the hydrogenation of bio‐based acids, and synthesis of hybrid organic‐inorganic photocatalysts for wastewater purification.
