Anna A. Perevalova graduated from Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia, with Diploma work in the area of classical microbiology. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in October 2007 from Winogradsky Institute of Microbiology, Russian Academy of Sciences (INMI RAS), Moscow, Russia. During her Ph.D. studies, Perevalova developed her platform of state-of-the-art techniques as a molecular ecologist working on the development and introduction of the culture independent techniques to the investigation of thermophilic microbial communities. Her current research interests are related to the ecophysiology of thermal field microorganisms. Dr. Perevalova is an expert in the characterization of the microbiological processes in thermal fields through (i) molecular techniques-based ecological studies; (ii) enrichment and isolation of key microorganisms from such environments; (iii) characterization of their metabolic potentials through the omics, genetics, and biochemistry investigations; and (iv) integration of all the data, generating biogeochemical and geomicrobiological explanations.
