Jose Ramon Leiza

University of the Basque Country, Spain

Jose Ramon Leiza received a Chemistry degree and a Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the University of the Basque Country in 1987 and 1991, respectively. He is an Associate Professor in chemical engineering at the Department of Applied Chemistry, University of the Basque Country, Donostia-San Sebastian, since 1995. He is also a Member of the Institute of Polymer Materials, POLYMAT, of the same university. His research activities are devoted to the understanding of fundamental aspects of the polymerization in dispersed media (emulsion polymerization and related techniques to prepare polymer latexes) which are relevant to industrial applications. He is also active in research on engineering aspect of emulsion polymerization reactors such as mathematical modeling, online monitoring, and control. He received the 1993 Rhone–Poulenc Award in clean technologies (with Prof. J.M. Asua and Dr. A. Urretabizkaia). He is currently a Member of the International Polymer Colloids Group (IPCG) and a Member of the Spanish Polymer Society (GEP).
