Minoru Tabata was born in Nara, Japan, in 1956. He graduated from the Department of Mathematics at Kobe University, Kobe, Japan, in 1978, and received an M.S. degree in mathematics from Osaka University, Osaka, Japan, in 1982. He obtained a D.S. degree in mathematics from Osaka University in 1993. He served as a Lecturer at the Department of General Education at Kyushu Tokai University, Kumamoto, Japan, in 1988. Tabata was transferred to the Department of Computers and Systems Engineering at Kobe University, Kobe, Japan, in 1992, and he was promoted to an Associate Professor in 1996. He was transferred to the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Osaka Prefecture University, Osaka, Japan, in 2005, and promoted to a Full Professor in 2005. His main research interests are in mathematical epidemiology, nonlinear integropartial differential equations, mathematical modeling, and population dynamics.
