Zoya A. Podlubnaya

Zoya A. Podlubnaya was born in 1937. In 1955, she graduated at high school with a gold medal. From 1955 to 1960, she was a student of the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University. From 1960 to 1964, she was a postgraduate student of the Moscow State University. In 1960–1966, she completed the defence of candidate's dissertation at the Moscow State University. In 1966, she served as Head of the research group Biochemistry of Muscle Proteins at the Institute of Biological Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences, named now Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Biophysics, RAS (ITEB RAS). In 1975, she was a Senior Researcher. Podlubnaya serves also as a Professor at the Faculty of Biophysics and Biomedicine of the Pushchino State University. In 2008, Podlubnaya has been given an honorary title of Honoured Science Worker of the Russian Federation. Podlubnaya received three government awards in 1976, 1987, and 1997. Since 1994, Podlubnaya regularly (every second year) organizes and holds international symposia on biological motility (International symposiums “Biological motility”). The latter one was held in 2010. She is a Member of the Scientific Council on Problems of Biological Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Chairman of the Section “Biological Motility” of this council, a Member of the Scientific Council of ITEB RAS, and a Member of the Dissertation Council of ITEB RAS. Podlubnaya is the author and coauthor of more than 300 articles and reviews in home and foreign scientific journals. She is a government grant holder (the grants of the RF President Outstanding Scientists, 1993–2002), a Supervisor of RF President’s grants Leading Scientific Schools (2006-2007 and 2008-2009) and of the grant in the RAS Presidium Program Basic Sciences for Medicine (2004–2010), a Manager of the German-Russia grant (1999-2001), the scientific RFBR grants (1995–2010), the grants of RFBR regions, RFBR-Ministry of Education and RFBR-Russian Education (2001–2007), and the Leader of the contract about the scientific cooperation between the Polish Academy of Sciences and RAS (between ITEB RAS and the Institute of Experimental Biology, Poland). In 2004, Podlubnaya was awarded a Diploma of the Polish and Russian Academies of Sciences for the best series of joint studies on the mechanisms of regulation of muscle contraction (2004). She is also the Manager of the contracts with the Hospital of the Pushchino Research Center and the Kazan’ State Medical University and the Manager of the yearly contracts with the Institute of Medico-Biological Problems RAS.
