Frank den Hartog

Frank den Hartog is a Senior Scientist at TNO, and a Scientific Leader of TNO's connectivity research area. He is also the Deputy Chair of the Technical Working Group of the worldwide Home Gateway Initiative (HGI). Between 1998 and 2003, he was an Applied Scientist at KPN Research, where he pioneered the home networking research area. He now acquires and manages large collaborative research projects on every aspect of heterogeneous consumer networking. Other positions and activities include: an Organizing Committee Member of IEEE Consumer Communications & Networking Conference (CCNC), a Project Editor of the CENELEC SmartHouse Roadmap project, the Workpackage Leader of the FP7 FIGARO project, and the Chair of the Academic Advisory Board of the Dutch ICT Innovation Platform “Domotica & Smart Living”. He received a Ph.D. degree in experimental physics from Leiden University, and graduated at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. He coauthored over 80 peer-reviewed conference articles, journal papers, patents, and contributions to standardization, and is often invited as a Guest Lecturer or to speak at conferences and workshops. He specializes in the fields of digital home, home networking, personal networks, residential gateways, remote management, and service- and device discovery.
