Rodrigo Bainy Leal

Rodrigo Bainy Leal received a Ph.D. degree in biological sciences (biochemistry). Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the Biochemistry Department and in the Postgraduate Programs of Biochemistry and Neuroscience at Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), SC, Brazil. Research experience is focused on signal transduction (especially on protein phosphorylation) in the central nervous system (CNS) in topics related to the mechanisms of neuroplasticity, neurotoxicity, and neuroprotection in response to heavy metals, neurotransmitters, oxidants and antioxidants compounds, lectins, and antidepressants compounds. He has supervised 13 M.S. degrees, 4 Ph.D. degrees, and 1 Postdoc and has published 56 full papers in refereed journals.
