James D. Brooks

James D. Brooks, a urologic surgeon, has focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of prostate cancer in patient care and basic research. He is currently the Keith and Jan Hurlbut Professor at the Department of Urology, Stanford University, Stanford, Calif, USA. Dr. Brooks received his A.B. degree with honors from the University of Chicago, Chicago, Ill, USA, and his M.D. degree from the Stanford University School of Medicine. He received his urology residency training and urologic oncology fellowship training at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He has published over 130 peer-reviewed scientific papers and is the recipient of several awards including the Dornier Research Scholar Award, the Doris Duke Foundation Clinical Research Scientist Award, the Eugene Schoenfeld Award, and the Luetje-Stubb Faculty Scholar Award. In addition to serving on the Editorial Board of Prostate Cancer, Dr. Brooks serves on the Editorial Board of The Prostate and as an Editor-in-Chief of The Open Prostate Cancer Journal.
