Nadia De Giovanni

Nadia De Giovanni received the Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the Sapienza University of Rome, Rome, Italy, in 1988. In 1989, she obtained the professional qualification to practice as a chemist. She is employed at the Catholic University of Sacred Heart (Laboratory of Forensic Toxicology of the Institute of Legal Medicine) as a Sanitary Technician for the service of forensic medicine. Dr. De Giovanni is engaged in the pharmacological and toxicological analyses on behalf of the Institute of Legal Medicine. She also performs the confirmatory analyses (by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry) of biological fluids already tested with screening techniques, of all requests of medicolegal interest such as international adoptions, child custody, review licenses, firearms, and issues related to the statement of the current highway code. Since 1978, she cooperates in scientific research in the field of forensic toxicology. She participated in numerous conferences, courses, and seminars in Italy and abroad. In addition, she is the author of over 130 scientific publications consisting of congress presentations, articles of qualified national and international journals, book chapters, and two books. Since February 2003, Dr. De Giovanni has been responsible for the quality assurance of the Institute of Legal Medicine certified according to UNI EN ISO 9001:2008. She is a Peer Reviewer for the international journal, Journal of Chromatography. She has been a Partner of the following scientific associations: Italian Group of Forensic Toxicologists (GTFI) since February 1992, The International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT) since August 1997, and The Italian Chemical Society since 2006.
