Juan M. Bueno

Juan M. Bueno received his M.S. degree in physics from the University of Salamanca, Salamanca, Spain, and the Ph.D. degree in physics (optics) from the University of Murcia, Murcia, Spain (1999). He joined the University of Murcia faculty team in 1994, where he actually holds a position as Associate Professor of Optics (Department of Physics). Since then he is a Member of the Research Group Laboratorio de Optica at the Center for Research in Optics and Nanophysics. In 2000-2001 he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Waterloo and Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (Canada). Bueno was the Chair of the Department of Physics (2007–2012) and the President of the Vision Sciences Division at the Optical Society (2008–2012). He is also a board Member of the M.S. (vision sciences) and Ph.D. (sciences) programs and has published more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and presented more than 60 invited talks and seminars around the world. He is also a coinventor in a number of patents in the field of optics and ophthalmology. Bueno is a cofounder of Voptica SL a spin-off company developing adaptive optics visual simulators and has scientific collaborations with laboratories in Europe and Canada.
