Born in Cairo, Graduated from Cairo University Kassr Al Ainy Medical School in 1976. Trained in General Surgery in United Kingdom, received the degree of Fellow of the Royal College of Edinburgh in 1982. Trained as Fellow in Vascular Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago 1984-1986 Returned to Egypt in 1987, where he established the first specialized department in Vascular Surgery in the Ministry oh Health at ElSahel Teaching Hospital. Introduced Duplex Vascular Ultrasound as an integral part of the Vascular Surgeon training and practice as of 1992. Satisfied the RPVI requirements and became active member of the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in 2009. Established the first endovascular unit in Egypt at the National Institute of Diabetes & Endocrinology in 2000, which rapidly became well known on national basis. Was strong proponent of endovascular interventions being performed primarily by vascular surgeons Organized and participated in many teaching activities in the fields of endovascular intervention and duplex vascular ultrasound in Egypt, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and India Founding Member of the Egypt Vascular Society & Egypt Endovascular Club Member of the International Society of Vascular Surgery & European Society of Vascular Surgery Has many publications in international vascular journals
